EPIC by Nextec ® Encapsulation Technology
EPIC by Nextec® encapsulation places an ultra thin polymer around the fibres and a tough, breathable barrier inside the fabric and between the fibre bundles. This process is permanent and engineered to deliver maximum performance as well as maintaining the original touch of the fabric.
Other Technologies
DWR (durable water repellent)
A water repellent treatment applied to fabric by immersion in a chemical bath. Fabric treated with DWR will cause light rain to bead up and roll off.
Heavy rain will eventually cause the fabric to wet-out and water will penetrate the fabric. DWR finishes are not durable and wash out or wear off.
coating
A finishing process where a coating is applied to one or both sides of a fabric to provide water resistance
Coating restricts breath ability, suppleness, drape and also performance at extremely cold temperatures. It also has a DWR finish that is durable and will wash out or wear off.
Lamination
A technology where a film or membrane is bonded to one side of a fabric.
Lamination can compromise the breath ability and hand. The technology may delaminate and often has a stiff, board-like feel. It also has a DWR finish that is not durable and will wash out or wear off.
